This Returns & Refunds Policy applies to purchases made on Bokon.uk, including hardback books, paperback books and eBooks, for customers in the United Kingdom.


1. Your Right to Cancel (UK Consumer Law)

If you are a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel most online purchases under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

Physical Books (Hardback & Paperback)

  • You may cancel your order within 14 days from the day you (or someone you nominate) receive the books.
  • You then have an additional 14 days to return the items after telling us you wish to cancel.

To exercise your right to cancel, please contact us using the details in Section 8 with:

  • Your name
  • Order number
  • The items you wish to return/cancel

2. Returns – Physical Books

Conditions for Return

To be eligible for a return (where you have changed your mind):

  • Books should be returned in their original condition, including any shrink wrap or packaging where reasonably possible.
  • We understand you may need to handle the product to inspect it; however, we may reduce your refund if the value of the items has been diminished by unnecessary handling.

Return Shipping Costs

  • If you are returning items because you changed your mind, you are responsible for the cost of return postage.
  • If the item is faulty, damaged, or incorrect, we will cover reasonable return postage costs or provide a prepaid label (where available).

3. eBooks (Digital Content)

  • eBooks are digital content delivered electronically.
  • By downloading or accessing the eBook after purchase, you acknowledge that you lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations once the digital download or access has started, if you agreed to this at checkout.

Refunds for eBooks

We may offer a refund for an eBook if:

  • The file is defective or not as described, and
  • We are unable to correct the issue within a reasonable time or provide a suitable replacement format.

We may ask for details of the issue (e.g. error message, device, app used) to help us resolve the problem.


4. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

Physical Books

If your book arrives:

  • Damaged,
  • Faulty (e.g. significant printing errors, missing pages), or
  • Incorrect (wrong item sent),

please contact us within a reasonable time after delivery with:

  • Your order number
  • A description of the issue
  • Photos of the damage or fault (if possible)

We will normally offer one of the following, depending on the circumstances:

  • replacement (subject to availability), or
  • full refund, including any standard delivery charges you originally paid and reasonable return costs (if we ask you to return the item).

5. How to Request a Return or Refund

To request a return or refund:

  1. Contact us by email or phone (see Section 8).
  2. Provide:
    • Your full name
    • Order number
    • Details of the item(s) you wish to return or the problem you’re experiencing
  3. Wait for our confirmation and any return instructions before sending anything back.

6. Processing Your Refund

  • We will process your refund within 14 days of:
    • Receiving the returned items, or
    • Receiving evidence that you have sent them back (whichever is earlier),
    • Or, for eBooks and non-returnable items, within 14 days of agreeing that a refund is due.
  • Refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at checkout.
  • Any reduction in refund due to diminished value (for handled/used physical books) will be explained to you.

7. Non-Returnable Items

We cannot accept returns or provide refunds for:

  • eBooks where the download or online access has already started, and you consented to this at checkout; except where the eBook is faulty or not as described.
  • Items returned more than 14 days after you informed us of your decision to cancel (for change-of-mind returns), unless agreed otherwise.

Your statutory rights are not affected.
